CPA services, outsourced CFO support, bookkeeping and business tax help for Vienna businesses.
Are You Looking for a CPA Firm in Vienna?
Here’s what we do. Sangha CPA works with small and mid-size businesses in Vienna, the nearby Tysons area and across Northern Virginia, handling the accounting, tax and financial planning work that pulls owners away from running the business. We serve Vienna clients from our office in Fairfax, and we also work with businesses across Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.
Vienna is one of the few places in Fairfax County with its own town government and its own business license, which adds a layer most nearby businesses do not deal with. Whether you need a CPA to handle your business taxes, a bookkeeper to keep your books clean, or an outsourced CFO to guide bigger financial decisions, you can start with one service and add others as your business grows. Vienna Business Tax Deadlines to Know
Vienna is an incorporated town inside Fairfax County, so businesses in the Town of Vienna deal with two governments instead of one:
- Town of Vienna business license (BPOL): businesses in the town get their license from the Town of Vienna, not from Fairfax County. Renewals are due by March 1. The Town mails renewal forms around the end of January, but not receiving a form does not excuse a late filing. New businesses must send the Town a copy of their EIN certificate and, if applicable, their Virginia sales tax certificate with the application, and a license is not issued until those are received.
- Fairfax County business tangible personal property (furniture, equipment, computers and similar assets): businesses in the Town of Vienna still file this with Fairfax County. The return is due May 1, and payment is due October 5.
Home-based businesses in Vienna also need a home occupation certificate from the Town when they apply for a business license.
If your business is in Tysons or elsewhere just outside the town limits, the county’s rules apply instead: the business license goes through Fairfax County and is due March 1. A Vienna mailing address does not always mean you are inside the town, so confirming exactly where your business is located is the first step to filing in the right place.
We help clients work out which filings apply, prepare them, and keep track of the dates each year, since local deadlines and rules can change.
Businesses We Help in Vienna and Tysons
Vienna combines a small-town commercial core, with offices, restaurants and shops along Maple Avenue and Church Street, with its closeness to the Tysons business district. We help companies of all types in the area, including:
- Professional services firms and consultants
- Healthcare and dental practices
- Restaurants, retail and hospitality businesses
- Home-based and owner-operated businesses
- Government contractors and technology companies
- Real estate and construction businesses
- Corporate offices and growing mid-size companies
Every industry has different accounting needs, so we start by learning how your business makes money and where it needs support.
Vienna CPA Questions
Do Vienna businesses file their business license with the town or the county?
With the Town of Vienna. Businesses inside the town get their business license from the town. Business tangible personal property is still filed and paid to Fairfax County.
When are Vienna business filings due?
The Town of Vienna business license renewal is due March 1. The Fairfax County business tangible personal property return is due May 1, and the payment is due October 5.
My business is in Tysons. Do Vienna’s rules apply to me?
Only if your business is inside the Town of Vienna. Tysons is part of Fairfax County rather than the town, so a Tysons business files its business license with the county. If you are not sure which side of the line your address falls on, we can help confirm.
Do home-based businesses in Vienna need a business license?
Yes. A home-based business in Vienna needs a Town business license and a home occupation certificate.
Do you work with Vienna businesses even though your office is in Fairfax?
Yes. We serve businesses throughout Northern Virginia, including Vienna, from our office in Fairfax. Call us and we will talk through how we would work together.
How do I get started?
Call us or send a message. We start with a conversation about your business and what you need, then recommend the right mix of services.
